Sigelo

Sigelo († June 19, 1194 in Genoa ) was protonotary and chancellor of Henry VI.

Sigelo came from a Würzburg ministerial family . He was a member of the Würzburg cathedral chapter and provost of a monastery not known by name, either in Würzburg or of St. Gangolf in Bamberg. Since 1189 he has been around King Henry VI. occupied. He accompanied the king on his Italian march in 1191. As the successor to Magister Heinrich from Utrecht, who had been appointed bishop of Worms, he became an imperial protonotary in 1192. In the summer of 1192 and 1193 he was entrusted with economic tasks in Italy. The imperial certificates that were issued during this period do not contain any data . The following year he was appointed chancellor and accompanied Heinrich on his new campaign to the Kingdom of Sicily . He died on June 19, 1194, probably in Genoa.
