Sigikid ( spelling : sigikid ) is a German manufacturer of cuddly toys , toys and children's clothing from Mistelbach near Bayreuth .
history
The Sigikid brand belongs to H. Scharrer & Koch GmbH & Co. KG . The company goes back to the Nuremberg businessman Heinrich Scharrer, who opened a branch of his Nuremberg trading business for glass beads, mirrors and toys in Bayreuth in 1856. Shortly thereafter, Christian Koch joined the company, who also married Scharrer's daughter.
After several changes of ownership, the company was transferred to Sigrid Gottstein in 1968. Together with her husband Josef, she developed the sigikid brand for high-quality children's clothing. She derived the term from her first name and the American word "kid" for "child". Small stuffed toys were made from the leftovers from production. The resulting design with different fabric patterns became a trademark and is retained to this day. In 1972 production was relocated to Mistelbach. Today all production is located abroad.
The siblings Axel and Eva Gottstein took over the management in the fourth generation in 1998.
Companies
The company employs around 200 people in Germany and also produces in Romania, Moldova, India and China. The turnover is around 19.4 million euros (2014).

The company mainly sells baby and children's toys, cuddly toys, bags, children's equipment and children's fashion.
