Siglec-3 (from English sialic acid – binding immunoglobulin-like lectin , synonym CD33 ) is a surface protein .

properties

Siglec-3 is a cell adhesion molecule and lectin from the immunoglobulin superfamily in myeloid cells and preferentially binds alpha-2,6-linked sialic acid . In the course of the immune response , Siglec-3 serves as an inhibitory receptor through intracellular recruitment of protein phosphatases via the SH2 domain . Siglec-3 has a cellular ITIM motif. It is glycosylated and phosphorylated . Gemtuzumab (IgG4-κ antibody hP67.6 ) and vadastuximab bind to Siglec-3.
