Seilerberg is a district in the Freiberg-Süd district of the large district town of Freiberg in the district of central Saxony (Free State of Saxony ).

The Seilerberg district is located on the southern edge of the city of Freiberg. It is bordered in the west by “Brander Straße” ( Bundesstraße 101 ), in the north by “Käthe-Kollwitz-Straße” and in the east by “Berthelsdorfer Straße”.

history

In the eastern part of the Seilerberg on the southern outskirts of Freiberg, the first houses were built in the early 1930s in the style of a garden city . Cooperative housing construction began in 1954 on " Johannes R. Becher -Weg", today located in the "Hinter dem Bahnhof" district. A similar development can be found today in the southern part and in the area of "Thomas-Mann-Straße". In general, the district has loose buildings. The “Karl-Günzel-Grundschule” in the southern part of the district received a completely new building in 2011. There is also a nature kindergarten in the quarter.
