from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sigma Orionis Cluster is a collection of stars in the Orion constellation . The discovery is due to Garrison assigning 15 B-type stars to the cluster in 1967 . The cluster was further explored by Lyngå in 1981 and from 1994 the Sigma-Orionis cluster has been a regular research object. The cluster is named after the Sigma Orionis star system , which is also one of the members.
