The Liechtenstein Law on Electronic Signatures (Signature Law) of September 18, 2003 regulates the legal framework for electronic signatures and signature or certification services. It implements the EC Directive 1999/93 / EC for electronic signatures (which is binding for Liechtenstein as a member of the EEA ) . The signature law is closely based on the Austrian signature law , and is essentially the same as it is in terms of structure and content. The signature law is specified in more detail in the regulation on electronic signatures (signature regulation).
Article 13 names the Office for Communication as the supervisory body for compliance with the law, in particular for providers of signature or certification services, as well as for the confirmation bodies for secure signature creation units and the systems used by certification service providers.
The following transitional regulations applied until December 31, 2008:
- The domestic authorities may also use advanced electronic signatures on a par with secure electronic signatures .
- The products and systems used and recommended by certification service providers do not require a security certificate from a certification body.
