Sigurd Rompza

Sigurd Rompza (* 1945 in Bildstock (Saarland) ) is a German artist.

biography

Sigurd Rompza studied painting and art theory with Raimer Jochims at the Städelschule / Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Frankfurt am Main . From 1981 to 1994 he held a teaching position at Saarland University, specializing in art education. In 1994 Sigurd Rompza was appointed professor for the basics of design at the Saar College of Fine Arts in Saarbrücken . In 1999 he received a professorship for painting and basic design at the Saar College of Fine Arts. In 2011 Sigurd Rompza retired there.

Artistic work

Sigurd Rompza works in the field of concrete art . The first white reliefs were created in 1972. Since 1985 the artist has been working on colored reliefs and wall objects as open picture forms. Since 1973 Sigurd Rompza has been writing art theoretical texts, publications on concrete art and the basics of design.
