Sila (unit)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Prince Entemena's silver vase, with 10 sila, is the oldest standard measure in the world.

Sila was a Mesopotamian measure of volume. The measure was considered to be the smallest unit in Babylon .

  • 1 Sila = 0.48 liters
  • 1 ban = 10 sila

A vase of Prince Entemena von Lagaš has an engraving of 10 sila and is therefore the oldest standard measure in the world.
