The house at Silcherplatz 6 on the corner of Südstraße was built in 1891 for the teacher V. Bürk according to plans by August Dederer in the style of historicism in the neo-renaissance and neo-baroque variants. The three-storey house on the eaves with a sloping building edge was built as a residential building for high demands. The cornices are in the neo-renaissance style. They are designed as bands of sandstone and are closely spaced. Furthermore, the window roofing or window crowning on the first floor and the corner balcony with balusters are designed in the neo-renaissance style. The keystones of the window roofing or window crowning on the second floor and the "drilled" window frames on the first floor were designed in the neo-baroque style.
history
In 1950 the house belonged to Eugen Riegner. The Schimmelpfennig credit agency was located in the building , and apartments were also rented. In 1961 the building became the property of Erich Riegner in Langenburg and was only used for residential purposes.
On February 2, 2017, a major fire broke out in the building, injuring eight people and burning out the mezzanine floor.
