Silex and the City is a French comic series by the illustrator and writer Jul . The cartoon deals with current social issues, adapted to the Stone Age. The title was chosen based on the television series Sex and the City , the term Silex is a synonym for flint .

The series tells of the experiences of the Dotcom family in the Paleolithic . The family, consisting of Father Blog, Mother Spam, Daughter Web and Son Url, grapple with everyday problems that are very similar to today's.

publication

The Dargaud publishing house is responsible for the publication of the previous seven volumes. About 160,000 copies of the first two volumes Avant notre ère (2009) and Réduction du temps de trouvaille (2010) were sold. The third volume was published in August 2012 under the title Le néolithique, c'est pas automatique .

Television series

For the television station Arte , Haut et Court TV and Je suis Bien Content produced an eponymous cartoon series with 40 episodes per season based on the comic . The 5th season is currently running. Each episode is about 3 minutes long. Directed by Andrey Brun and Jeremie Hoarau, the producers were Caroline Benjo, Jimmy Desmarais and Barbara Letellier. The screenplay was written by Nicolas Livet and the music is by Antoine Berjeaut and Alexis Pecharman.

The series was first shown in German and French on September 3, 2012 on Arte . Mediatoon Distribution took over the international sales.
