Silicon Knights was a Canadian video game developer founded by Denis Dyack in 1992 . The company is based in St. Catharines , Ontario . In recent years more and more employees left the company due to dissatisfaction with the management, which is why the studio was ultimately no longer able to ensure the quality of its software. In addition, the studio was sentenced in 2012 after a legal dispute with Epic Games to a compensation payment of 4.5 million dollars and was ordered by the court to stop selling all games based on Unreal Engine 3 and destroy their source code. As a result, the studio went bankrupt in May 2014.
