Sillage (French for " wake ") is a French comic series by cartoonists Philippe Buchet and Jean-David Morvan (scenario), which was first published in 1998. It is about the young human girl Nävis, who grows up on a wild jungle planet after the crash of her spaceship and is finally picked up by Sillage, a huge space convoy comprising thousands of ships.

In Germany, Sillage was published by Carlsen Verlag , among others in the Magic Attack magazine , but mainly in album form.

action

The young human girl Nävis lives peacefully with his best friend, the giant cat Houyo, on a wild jungle planet where her spaceship crashed when she was a toddler. Their peace is disturbed when the huge space convoy Sillage, made up of countless spaceships and peoples, crosses their path: the Hottarde Madjestot Heiliig, whose race is threatened with extinction in their ships due to an epidemic, wants to transform the planet into a desert world, a new home for to create his people.

Nävis takes up the fight against Heiliig, who is increasingly deviating from the line of the leaders of Sillage and no longer respects his own laws. Houyo is killed, and in the end there is a near-fatal duel, which is interrupted by security forces. Heiliig is arrested and sentenced to life-long forced labor, while his great goal is achieved: the Hottards move into their new home and declare him a folk hero.

Meanwhile, Nävis is taken to Sillage and placed under government protection. As she is the only living being in the convoy who is immune to the telepathic abilities of all other species, she begins to work as a special agent for the guides of Sillage after completing her training. In this way, she hopes to meet other people in the convoy at some point.

Nävis is used in various areas and develops into a super agent over the course of the series. She fights both corruption and other criminal activities in the Sillage convoy. Again and again she receives references to her own people and meets people twice; however, both encounters end tragically. At the same time, Nävis has to recognize more and more how much the leadership of Sillage is eaten up by corruption and lust for power, and finally turns openly against them.

The Consul Akutsau increasingly appears as her opponent and occasionally her ally. Akutsau, who initially had a huge harem, found a great deal of pleasure in Nävis, which she did not reciprocate. When she uncovered the machinations of conspirators, she found herself, together with the mysterious consul's pupil, also a human being, targeted by a caste of elite warriors who wanted to take revenge for the death of their comrades-in-arms. The eighteenth volume tells of the collaboration of the protagonists' last surviving elite warrior in the face of a man-made biological weapon that threatens to destroy the entire convoy.

Comic books

Sillage

Almost every band tells a self-contained adventure that always fits into the overall story. Volumes 13 and 14, which tell a coherent story, are an exception.
