Jean-David Morvan (born November 28, 1969 in Reims ) is a French comic book author .

Life

Jean-David Morvan studied comic drawing in Brussels at the College of Fine Arts (from 1989) and initially specialized in drawing scenarios. As early as 1993 he was only active as an author on his first album eflets perdus ( Diable à quatre ), the drawings were by Sylvain Savoia . In 1994 the publishing house Zenda Horde published with drawings by JJ Whamo. In the same year he began working on the Nomad series with Sylvain Savoia and Philippe Buchet .

He then made several one shots , including Les Préhistos ... tôt ou tard with ketchup at Art Scénic (1997), the two Bunker Baby Doll editions with F. Jarzaguet at Zenda ( Coka , 1997 and Le Serment d'Hypocrite , 1998), La Quête des réponses with Philippe Buchet at Delcourt (1998), Tutti Frutti for Trantkat at Delcourt (1999), A l'eau! with G. Matouba at éditions le Cycliste (2000), La Mandiguerre for S. Tamiazzo at Delcourt (2001) and Sept secondes with G. Paret at Delcourt.

After the series Troll and Sillage , he worked with José Luis Munuera on the new adventures of Spirou and Fantasio , which have been released by Dupuis since 2004 after a break of several years . The stories are kept in the traditional semi-funny style, which has clear stylistic borrowings from mangas . From a commercial point of view, this concept seems to be working: Paris-sous-Seine , Morvan and Munuera's first album, was the best-selling in the history of the series, according to Dupuis. With their Spirou stories, Jean-David Morvan and José-Luis Munuera pay tribute not only to Franquin , but also to the other authors of the series, for example by alluding to Rob-Vel's first Spirou episode or Jean-Claude Fournier's character Itoh Kata in embed the story.

Morvan has been the author of the comic series Wakfu Heroes for the MMORPG series Wakfu since 2010 . Next to him, Tot and Adrián are working on the comics, which will appear in German Tokyopop from November 2010 .
