Silly Fools (also short SF , Thai ซิ ล ลี่ ฟู ล ส์ ) is a rock band in Thailand .

history

The band was founded in 1996 by Chakarin Chuprasoet. In 1997 the first album EP was released under the indie label Bakery Music . Then they switched to the More Music label , which belongs to GMM Grammy , the largest label in Thailand. With "IQ 180" followed in 1998 the first full-fledged album by the Silly Fools. Their breakthrough came in 2000 with the album Mint . With two top ten songs from the album King Size , the album at the top of the charts and a tour with Sek Loso , they had reached the top in Thailand. On King Size , Silly Fools had changed musical direction towards the mainstream . A major upheaval came in 2006. In the summer, singer Toe left the band. Allegedly, appearances in pubs where alcohol is served are not compatible with his Islamic faith. Toe founded the band Hangman a short time later , which makes his rationale for leaving Silly Fools a bit questionable.

In November of that year, Silly Fools performed at the Fat Festival in Thailand. Silly Fools played two new songs in English. The singer wore a mask on his face during the performance. The secret of the new singer was only revealed in January 2007. On the day the EP Mini was released , there was a limited edition of 1000 copies at the GMM Grammy building, where the new singer was introduced. It was Benjamin "Chung" Tuffnell, who previously sang with the band Metropol. Ben was born in Korea in 1975 and was adopted by an American family. He worked in Thailand as a teacher at the Assumption College in Rayong , where he made his first acquaintance with the Thai music scene. The EP Mini consisted of five songs, all in English. The EP was produced and mixed by Greg Reely, a producer from North America. After Mini was released , they went on a promotional tour through Canada and the USA. In March 2008 the last album by Silly Fools was released. After the excursion into English, this album was recorded again in Thai.
