Silva (literary studies)

In Spanish literary studies, Silva refers to a primarily classical and modernist, unstrophic form of poetry, usually of considerable length.

Compared to the most common type, a combination of fully rhyming eleven and seven silver , a distinction is made between the Silva arromanzada . In it all lines of even numbers show the same assonance , as is usual with romances .

A famous example of a Silva is the Silva a la agricultura de la zona tórrida (1826) by the Venezuelan Andrés Bello .
