Silvia Poll
Silvia Poll Ahrens (born September 24, 1970 in Managua ) is a former swimmer from Costa Rica.
The daughter of German parents grew up in Nicaragua and later in Costa Rica . By winning the silver medal in the 200m freestyle at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul , she became the first female swimmer from Costa Rica to win an Olympic medal.
Her younger sister Claudia became Olympic champion in the 200 m freestyle in Atlanta in 1996 .
