Silvio Gazzaniga
Silvio Gazzaniga (born January 23, 1921 in Milan ; † October 31, 2016 there ) was an Italian sculptor .
Life
In the early 1970s, Gazzaniga worked as an artistic consultant for the Milan-based company GDE Bertoni. In 1971 he designed the FIFA World Cup trophy , the trophy that has been presented to the soccer world champions since 1974. Also from his hand are the trophy for the winner of the UEFA Super Cup , the trophy for the U-21 European champions , the Africa Cup and the ÖFB Cup . Furthermore, the trophy for the winner of the baseball world championship comes from Gazzaniga.
Silvio Gazzaniga studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera . He died in his hometown of Milan at the age of 95.
