Simenti is a hotel complex in Niokolo-Koba National Park in the region of Tambacounda in Senegal . It is named after a small lake on which it is located. The Simenti airfield , through which this part of the country is connected to the national air transport network, is close to the hotel .

Geographical location

Lake Simenti, about 1400 meters long and about 200 meters wide, covers an area of ​​over 30 hectares in the northern bank terrace of the Gambia , which is covered by gallery forests, eight kilometers downstream and west of the confluence of the Niokolo Koba .

The hotel complex was built on the strip of land between the lake and the river and is located on the territory of the Communauté rurale Dialacoto in the Tambacounda department . She has obviously seen better times (as of 2014). In addition, the Center de Recherche de Primatologie Simenti has existed in Simenti since 2007 as a field station of the German Primate Center . Simenti is located about 90 kilometers south-southeast of the regional prefecture of Tambacounda in the western center of the national park.

Apart from the airfield, Simenti can be reached by land via an approximately 30-kilometer-long runway that branches off the national road N 7 at Dar Salam to the south and leads through the national park via Badi .
