SimpLiCo

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

SimpLiCo was a PC system offered by the PC manufacturer Fujitsu Siemens in 2006 that was specially designed for use by senior citizens. The purchase price included assembly and instruction in operation. The operating system was based on Linux .

The system was designed for use without any prior knowledge - the individual applications have a description instead of a name, the individual subject areas such as office or hobby have colored markings that can be addressed using special keys on the keyboard. The user interface is more reminiscent of a smartphone . The keyboard itself also has extra large letters.

The system was a flop on the market, which, according to c't estimates , was partly due to the high price of almost 1000 € due to unnecessarily powerful hardware (including an Intel Pentium D processor) and the lack of expandability of the system.
