Simplex is a herbicide approved in Germany for the control of dicotyledonous weeds in meadows and pastures . Authorization holder is to Dow Chemical belonging Dow AgroSciences GmbH .

The product contains fluroxypyr (100 g / l) and aminopyralid (30 g / l) as active ingredients and is formulated as a microemulsion .

use

The Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety has identified dock species, field thistle , great nettle and dicotyledonous weeds as target organisms . The current approval runs until December 31, 2025. The product is not approved in Switzerland or Austria.

Simplex can be used over a large area (2 l / ha in 200–400 l water), in the treatment of clumps or single plants (solution of 100 ml herbicide in 10 l water) or in a brush method (solution of 600 ml herbicide in 10 l water). In the painting process, the solution is applied to the plants to be controlled via a roller that rotates in the opposite direction to the direction of travel of the tractor . All three procedures can only be used once a year.

Side effects

Simplex has been classified as toxic to algae, fish and fish food animals and as non- harmful to the common lacewing and brackish wasp Aphidius rhopalosiphi . It is not considered dangerous for bees if the highest permitted application rate is used .

In the meantime it has been found that the active ingredient aminopyralid in grasses is partially incorporated into the cellulose and lignin and thus resists further degradation. Even feeding or recycling in a biogas plant does not break these connections. When liquid manure, dung or fermentation substrate is then applied to the field, the active ingredient is reactivated by the microbial degradation. This can lead to significant plant damage in the case of subsequent sensitive crops such as potatoes, legumes, sunflowers and various types of vegetables.
