Sindhistan is not an independent state , but, like Kurdistan, is a historical territory in the states of Pakistan and India . The name of the historical state was Sindh , as was the name of today's Pakistani province of Sindh . Separatist tendencies are present in Pakistan today. The nationalist independence movement for a sovereign state of Sindhistan is becoming increasingly visible and violent.

Parts of the population residing in the area in question speak Sindhi (سنڌي, सिन्धी), a language spoken by 21 million people. The population is estimated at 95 million people, 50% are Sunnis and 50% followers of Sikhism . In Sindhistan additional languages as are Punjabi , Pashto and Balochi spoken.
