The Symphonic Wind Orchestra Freiburg (SBO) is a symphonic wind orchestra of the Oberbadischer Blasmusikverband Breisgau association .

history

The Freiburg Symphonic Wind Orchestra was founded in 1988 by the initiative of the then President of the Upper Baden Wind Music Association in Breisgau, Eugen Faller, and the association youth leader Hans-Peter Rinklin, who also took over the musical direction, as an association youth wind orchestra. The first concert was performed in Prechtal in 1990 .

In 1992 Bernhard Winter became a conductor and achieved several successes with the orchestra, including the Regional Culture Prize 1995 in Freiburg , the 1st prize in the highest level of difficulty with the special award of the jury at the international competition for wind orchestras in Strasbourg in 1996 and winning the CD -Competition in 1999 at the international music days in Vöcklabruck ( Austria ), with the CD "Ragtimes & Habaneras" produced in 1998.

In 1996, the name of the “Association of Youth Brass Orchestra” was renamed “Symphonic Wind Orchestra”, or SBO for short. In 2002 the orchestra received the addition "Freiburg" because the headquarters of the Upper Baden Brass Music Association Breisgau eV is in Freiburg.

Jürgen Burmeister conducted the orchestra from November 16, 2002 to March 17, 2013. On March 9, 2013, Siegfried Rappenecker was appointed the new conductor at the OBV general meeting. Rappenecker gave his first concert on November 10, 2013 with guest conductor Franco Cesarini .
