The Symphonic Wind Orchestra Vorarlberg is a symphonic wind orchestra in Vorarlberg , Austria .

The conductor is Thomas Ludescher , who founded the orchestra in 1997. Some of the 85 musicians in this selected orchestra come from the member associations of the Vorarlberg Brass Music Association, others come from Germany, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and Tyrol. The orchestra is carried by the Vorarlberg Brass Music Association and financially supported by the State of Vorarlberg.

Recognitions

The orchestra achieved a particular success at the 15th World Music Contest 2005 in Kerkrade (Netherlands). At the highest level, the musicians achieved third place (first place with distinction) in the overall rating of the symphonic wind orchestras (harmony) with 92.4 points. The first performance of the commissioned composition Chakra by Maurice Hamers , which was produced in 2007 as an audiovisual complete work on DVD, was performed at this competition .

In 2007 the orchestra went on a concert tour to Beijing .

In 2009 the orchestra was able to confirm the success of 2005 at the WMC in Kerkrade. With 93.33 the number of points from 2005 could even be surpassed. Again the orchestra was able to present itself as the best German-speaking orchestra.
