Thomas Ludescher

Thomas Ludescher (born February 3, 1969 in Feldkirch ) is an Austrian musician , conductor , composer and music teacher .

Life

Ludescher began studying at the Vorarlberg State Conservatory while training as an electrician . He studied trumpet with Lothar Hilbrand in Feldkirch and with Josef Pomberger at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and music education with Peter Röbke. In 1996 he graduated as a Magister artium . Since 1997 he has been head of the wind orchestra conducting course at the Vorarlberg State Conservatory. In 1999 and 2000 he was guest conductor at the Bregenz Festival . In 2003 he passed the diploma examination for wind orchestra conducting and instrumentation at the University of Music in Nuremberg with Maurice Hamers . He continued to study composition with Herbert Willi at the Vorarlberg Conservatory and in the master class at the Augsburg-Nuremberg University of Music, wind orchestra conducting and instrumentation. Since the spring of 2003 he has been leading the course for wind orchestra conducting at the Tyrolean State Conservatory , and he is also director of the Vorarlberg Symphonic Wind Orchestra, which he founded in 1997 . In autumn 2004 he took on a teaching position for wind orchestra conducting at the Nuremberg Music Academy. Since the establishment of the Leopold Mozart Center in Augsburg , he has taught wind orchestra conducting there.

From 1996 to 2016 Ludescher was Vorarlberger Landeskapellmeister; since 2004 he has been the Federal Deputy Kapellmeister.

Ludescher is married and has two children.

Services

In April 2005, he won the Prix ​​Credit Suisse international conductor competition , in which 22 selected participants from Estonia, Switzerland, Germany, Japan, France and Austria took part.

He took part in various musical competitions with the Vorarlberg Symphonic Wind Orchestra, including in Valencia and the CISM competition in Schladming . He achieved a particular success with his orchestra at the 15th World Music Contest 2005 in Kerkrade (Netherlands). In the highest level, they achieved third place (first place with distinction) with 92.4 points in the overall rating of the symphonic wind orchestras (harmony). The first performance of the commissioned composition Chakra by Maurice Hamers, which was produced in 2007 as an audiovisual complete work on DVD, was performed at this competition .

Awards

In 2018 Ludescher was awarded the Great Merit of the State of Vorarlberg .
