Maurice Hamers

Maurice Hamers (* 1962 in Valkenburg aan de Geul ) is a Dutch conductor , trumpeter , composer and professor of wind orchestra conducting at the Leopold Mozart Center in Augsburg .

Life

Maurice Hamers studied trumpet and conducting at the Maastricht Conservatory with Sef Pijpers . At the age of 19 he led the fanfare orchestra in Urmond and won two national music competitions. In 1993 he led the St. Martinus Urmond Fanfare Orchestra to victory in the top class of a national competition. He won the same title the following year with the St. Caeciliia Simpelveld Symphonic Wind Orchestra . With the Brass Band Limburg he won the competition in 1991 and 1993. In 1989 he won the silver baton at the WMC Kerkrade conducting competition .

From 1995 to 2000 he was the conductor of the royal Marinierskapel in Rotterdam (NL). He is currently Professor of Wind Orchestra Conducting at the Institute for Wind Instruments, Percussion and Wind Orchestra Conducting at the Leopold Mozart Center at the University of Augsburg .
