In electronics, a single in-line package (SIP, "single row housing") isa housing design for components, in particular resistors and integrated circuits , which designates a housing with a row of contact pins . The design belongs to the category of components for push-through assembly .

Applications

At the time of the 286 PCs, SIP housings were very often used for memory modules until they were replaced by the single inline memory module design. Other areas of application were resistor networks and other electronic assemblies as well as (from today's perspective) simple integrated circuits .

For interconnection

Pin 1 is usually provided with a line, a point or, more rarely, a number. Pin 1 is switched to ground or to operating voltage, while the resistors are connected to the individual lines.
