Sint-Janskerk (Maastricht)
The Sint-Janskerk ( German Johanneskirche ) is a Protestant church in the center of the Dutch city of Maastricht . It is in the immediate vicinity of the Catholic Servaas basilica .
history
The Sint-Janskerk is first mentioned in 1218. As a parish church, it was built right next to the older collegiate church of St. Servatius.
Her old tower collapsed in a storm in 1366. In the second half of the 15th century, today's 79 meter high tower was built.
In 1632 the church passed to the Protestants. Various renovations have been documented since the 18th century. In the last major renovation in 1984, the church tower was given its characteristic red color.
organ
The organ was built in 1992 by the organ building company L. Verschueren in the existing organ case from 1780 (Joseph Binvignat), whereby pipe material from the historical organ was partially reused (corresponding registers are marked with an "H"). The slider chest instrument has 25 stops on two manuals and a pedal . The actions are mechanical.
