The Sint Jodocuskerk is the essentially late Gothic Protestant Reformed parish church in Oosterland (municipality of Schouwen-Duiveland ) in the Dutch province of Zeeland . Of the medieval church, only the choir has survived in its original state.

history

The church in Oosterland, which was consecrated to St. Jodocus until the Reformation , was built in the second half of the 14th century. The core of the free-standing tower still dates from this period. At the end of the 15th century, the three-bay late Gothic choir with a 5/8 end was built. In 1612 a severe village fire raged in Oosterland, in the course of which the nave of the church was so damaged that it could not be rebuilt. From then on, the choir was used for church services. In the 19th century this was extended to the west by two yokes. In addition, a school building was built between the choir and tower in 1880, so that today there is a continuous building complex. Since 1904 the school has been used as a community hall. After damage in the Second World War, which mainly affected the tower, the church was renovated in 1949/50. Today the Sint Jodocuskerk belongs to a Reformed congregation within the United Protestant Church in the Netherlands .
