The Sint Martinuskerk is a Roman Catholic parish church in Tessenderlo in the Belgian province of Limburg . The church is known for its late Gothic rood screen.

history

Today's Martinus Church replaces a Romanesque previous building that was built around 1135. The new Gothic building was built in the Demergotic style from iron ore-containing sandstone. The oldest part of the church is the choir from 1397. The construction of the nave, transept and side aisles began in 1444. In 1478 the Romanesque tower was replaced by a structure in the Kemper Gothic style.

Between 1841 and 1844 the transept and aisles were laid down and neo-Gothic aisles were built in their place. The nave arcades of the central nave, the choir and the tower were retained.

From 1520 to 1530 the church received its richly decorated late Gothic rood screen.
