Sioen Industries is a Belgian textile manufacturer and a diversified publicly traded group based in Ardooie .

Companies

In 1907 the Sioen-Sabbe company was founded by Adolf Sioen in Rumbeke and later continued by his son Daniel Sioen. In 1960 Jean-Jacques Sioen founded a company in Beveren for the manufacture of technical (coated) textiles. His wife Jacqueline opened a clothing workshop in Roeselare in 1967 for the production of hard-wearing protective clothing for industrial use.

In 1977 the company moved to a new location in Ardooie after the buildings in Beveren and Roeselare became too small. In the 1980s the company expanded to other countries such as France , Ireland and Tunisia . In 1991 the production facility in Ardooie was destroyed by fire and in 1993 the newly built infrastructure was put into operation.

In 1996 the company was registered on the Brussels Stock Exchange . The company had sales of 85 million and employed 1,500 people.

In 2006 the company employed 4687 people in 38 subsidiaries in 14 different countries. In 2017, sales of 363.4 million euros were achieved with a net profit of 26 million euros. In May 2017, Sioen Industries announced that it had acquired UK-based James Dewhurst Group for £ 44 million.

Products

Sioen is a company with an extensive portfolio of products and activities: spinning, weaving and coating of technical textiles, production of professional protective clothing and production of fine chemicals .

The core activities are divided into three areas. The coating area is responsible for the integrated coating of synthetic fabrics. The apparel division makes technical apparel for a wide variety of markets. Sioen Chemicals (Fine Chemicals division) also produces pigment pastes , coatings and inks .
