Sit-on-top

However, there are also sit-on tops that resemble a sea kayak in the hull shape, they are much sleeker and can also compete with sea kayaks.
Sit-on-tops are used because of their modesty , especially in coastal areas in canoe rentals . The closed hull makes the boats practically unsinkable and very robust. They also have a very stable swimming position and thus convey a feeling of security despite the high seating position. Many people take advantage of this property, and there is a recently flourishing industry in Europe, kayak fishing . The re-entry on a sit-on-top of the water is much lighter than conventional canoes. The boat class is also valued by beginners because the free seating position avoids the possible fear of not being able to get out of the boat if it capsizes .
The boats are also used more and more often for fishing or diving , and in the corresponding version they are also known as Divejak . Due to the extremely stable position on the water and the easily accessible storage space in front of and behind the paddler, the boats are well suited for fishing and hunting , with the larger boats even on the sea. The boat class was first launched in the USA. In Europe, they were able to establish themselves most quickly in the Mediterranean area , and in German-speaking countries they have recently started to spread.
