Situation is a song by the British synth-pop band Yazoo . It was written and composed by Vince Clarke and Alison Moyet . The song has a playing time of 3 minutes and 44 seconds and is sung by Alison Moyet.

Emergence

The song was originally pressed as the B-side of Yazoo's debut single "Only You", which rose to number two on the UK Singles Chart . When the song was released as its own single in the US , it climbed to number 73 on the Billboard Hot 100 . It became Yazoo's first song at the top of the Billboard Hot Dance Club chart in the summer of 1982 and stayed there for four weeks. It also climbed to number 31 on the R&B charts. Alison Moyet's laughter was sampled in many other songs, including the international dance hit “ Macarena ”.

Soundtrack

The song was used in the 2002 movie The Rules of the Game .

In 1990 and 1999 the song was remixed by various DJs, including Peter Rauhofer and Richard "Humpty" Vission. The 1999 remixes were played in clubs, after which "Situation" rose to number one on the Billboard Hot Dance Club chart for the second time in October 1999.
