Peter Rauhofer (born April 29, 1965 in Vienna ; † May 7, 2013 in New York City ) was an Austrian DJ and musician .

Rauhofer released several studio albums and was best known for his remixes for artists such as Depeche Mode , Madonna , Seal , Funky Green Dogs , Britney Spears , Pet Shop Boys and Kylie Minogue .

biography

Rauhofer began his career at GIG Records' Artists and Repertoire Management. He achieved first successes under the name "Club 69" together with Georg Luksch and Eric Kupper. His style changed from tribal house to a more progressive direction. In the late 1990s he was best known for his remixes by international artists. He produced most of the remixes in Vienna in the studio with Georg Luksch. Rauhofer also released under names such as "House Heroes", "Danube Dance" and "Sizequeen". Together with Victor Calderone he worked together as "The Collaboration".

In 1999 he received a Grammy for "Remixer of the Year" (Non-Classical for Cher "Believe.") . In 2000 he was nominated for a Grammy for Remixer of the Year for his work on Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful".

In April 2013, Rauhofer was diagnosed with a brain tumor. In early May 2013, he died in his adopted home New York City at the age of 48. He was buried in the Oberlaa cemetery (group 14, row 2, number 55).
