Seat console

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Seat console is the name for the supporting substructure of car seats , especially the car front seats . They are used to align the seat in the motor vehicle and to attach it to the floor pan .

The seat console often consists of a simple metal frame that rests on the floor and an inclined frame part mounted above it on which the seat is mounted. Some seats are mounted on the floor pan with side attachment to separate side brackets.

There are standard seat consoles with standard dimensions of the fastening devices and those that are specially made for certain models.

For horizontal adjustment, sliding seat rails with latching and locking devices are mounted between the seat and the console . On some vehicles, the consoles and the seat are connected directly to one another. This happens if the seats have built-in horizontal adjustment or no adjustability is provided. The seat console can also have devices for folding the entire seat forward.

In the case of swivel and lift seats , the seat console has facilities for rotating and extending over the edge of the door sill and, depending on the equipment, also for raising and lowering the seat.
