Six Was Nine was a German rock - pop and soul duo that became known in 1994 with the hit single "Drop Dead Beautiful". The singer Achim Degen and the guitarist Markus Tiedemann founded the formation in Frankenthal in Rhineland-Palatinate.

successes

Both had already played in different bands and gained musical experience. In 1992 they released "A Few Bold Strokes Of The Brush", their first CD album on the music label Virgin Records .

On the 1994 album "Let It Come Your Way", they had two titles in the music charts with "Drop Dead Beautiful", written by Mick Leeson and Peter Vale, and "Surprise, Surprise" written by Bobby Womack and Jim Ford .

The former was at number 36 in the Swedish charts for two weeks. The video for it was available on the music channels VIVA and MTV . The title can also be found on "Samplers" at "Bravo Hits 7 - EMI", "Hot And Fresh" - Ariola "," Hot Hits "- Time Live" and "Rock Super Stars Vol. 2 - Virgin". The experience of producer Mike Vernon played a major role in this album .

With their next album "Walk With The Spirits" in 1996, Six Was Nine again had two singles in the charts. With "Mission Of Love" written by Andy Goldmark, JD Martin and Jamie Houston, "Searching For A Soul" written by Peter Vale, Michael Leeson, E. Chacon, and C. Pettigrew, Degen and Tiedemann continued to enjoy success.

They played "live" with Tommy Baldu (drums), Harald Schneck (keyboard), Wolfgang Harling (bass) and Sandie Wollasch (vocals) as the "opening act" of the Tina Turner Wildest Dreams World Tour 96 in Belgium and the Netherlands.

The formation could also be seen in various live performances in Germany.

On their last album "Zen & Now", which was released by BMG in 1998 , Achim Degen, Markus Tiedemann and Michael Ries wrote the music for the part "Now". This time the producer for seven titles was Armand Volker . With "Turning Wheel" they had another chart success, which however could not prevent the breakup of the duo.

In the meantime they play together again with the band "Cole".
