The Sjønståfjelltunnel ( Norwegian Sjønståfjelltunnelen ) is a road tunnel in the course of the Fylkesvei 830 between Finneid and Sulitjelma in the Norwegian Fylke Nordland .
history
The 2,827 meter long tunnel was built in 1956 as a railway tunnel as part of the extension of the Sulitjelmabane to Finneid. The tunnel breakthrough took place on June 11, 1956.
After the railway line was abandoned in 1972, the tunnel was converted for road traffic. This work was completed in 1975.
