Sjudew ( Russian Зю́дев , scientific transliteration Zjudev ) is an island in the Caspian Sea . It is located in front of the Volga Delta . The island of Sjudew has an elongated shape, and extends in a north-south direction along a peninsula, from which it is separated by a bay about 3 kilometers wide. The island is 23 kilometers long and 5.5 kilometers wide at its widest point. The shores of the island are low and completely overgrown with reeds. The island belongs to Astrakhan Oblast .
