Skaistgirys is a miestelis with 862 (2011) inhabitants in Lithuania , in the Rajongemeinde Joniškis , on the trunk road KK153, 15 km to the northwest of Joniškis , on the border with Latvia . It is the center of Skaistgirys County . There is Skaistgirys Catholic Church (built 1827), a middle school, a library, a post office (LT-84037), a park, a polyclinic, a cultural center, a kindergarten. In 1426 Skaistgirys was mentioned in a document. The first church was built around 1714. in Soviet Lithuania there was the "Pergalės" - collective farms . It has had its own coat of arms since 2005.
