Ski world championship
The World Ski Federation FIS organizes ski world championships every two years , divided into different disciplines:
- Nordic World Ski Championships (since 1924, cross-country skiing, ski jumping and Nordic combined)
- Alpine World Ski Championships (since 1931, downhill, Super-G, giant slalom, slalom, Alpine combined and team competition)
- Ski Flying World Championships (since 1972, ski flying)
- Grass ski world championships (since 1979, slalom, giant slalom, Super-G and combination)
- Freestyle Skiing World Championships (since 1986, Aerials, Moguls, Halfpipe, Dual Moguls and Skicross)
- Snowboard World Championships (since 1996, parallel slalom, parallel giant slalom, boardercross, big air and halfpipe)
There are also world championships in the disciplines of speed skiing , roller skiing and telemark skiing .
