from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Gandegg T-bar lift near Zermatt is the longest T-bar lift in the world with a length of 2,899 meters . It leads from the Trockener Steg over the Theodul Glacier to the valley station of the Testa 1 ski lift and was put into operation on October 18, 2003. The lift was built by the Garaventa company , two existing lifts were combined. The journey time is 15 minutes; the users are pulled with T-brackets. A special feature is the middle exit.

In contrast to the supports that are partially anchored on a glacier , the valley station stands on solid ground. The first supports are T-supports, followed by a curve with inclined roller batteries. Later on, N-pillars from the manufacturers Bühler and Habegger are used, as the lift runs over a glacier. It is driven by a slip ring motor in the valley station. 160 hangers of types Rö 9 and Rö 10 are used to suspend the ropes.
