Willy Habegger
Willy Habegger (born May 3, 1918 in Brenzikofen ; † April 16, 2002 in Thun ) was a Swiss farrier , locksmith and manufacturer .
After an apprenticeship as a farrier and a locksmith, he opened his own workshop in Thun in 1943. The Habegger company introduced the hand rope hoist in 1951 , for which the name Habegger has become synonymous in Switzerland . Habegger built the rotating Télécanapé platform for the national exhibition Expo 64 and the monorail monorail for the world exhibition Expo 67 in Canada .
By 1980 the company had built over 500 cable cars , chairlifts , gondola lifts and ski lifts . Since restructuring in the 1980s, Habegger has concentrated on the lifting technology division .
From 1959 to 1965 Willy Habegger was Thun City Councilor of the FDP .
