Skomvær fyr is a lighthouse on the small island of the same name on the Norwegian coast near Røst , Nordland . The lighthouse was built in 1887 . In 1978 it was switched to automatic operation and has been unmanned since 2007. The lighthouse is 31.7 meters high and is made of cast iron . It marks the beginning of the Vestfjord towards the open Atlantic .
