Sleigh Bells is a 1928 American animated short film directed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks .

background

The short film, previously believed to be lost, was found in the archives of the British Film Institute in London. The hero of the short film is Oswald, the lucky bunny who Disney invented with his colleague Ub Iwerks in 1927, a year before his most famous creation, Mickey Mouse . The film was a commissioned production for Universal Studios ; the film character Oswald looks very similar to the later Mickey Mouse with her button eyes and big ears. After the separation of Disney and Universal, the rights to the short film remained with Universal, where short Oswald films were shot. After the world premiere on July 23, 1928, the film will be shown again for the first time on December 12, 2015.
