Slim Rhodes (born April 27, 1912 in Pocahontas , Arkansas as Ethmer Cletus Rhodes , † March 10, 1966 ) was an American country and rockabilly singer who had his own television show with his band, The Mountaineers .

Life

Slim Rhodes started his musical career with his brothers Dusty and Speck with the formation of their band Slim Rhodes and his Mountaineers in 1932. Formed as a high school band, they appeared regularly on the WMC radio station in Memphis , Tennessee in 1946 . In 1953, Rhodes and his band got their own TV show on KATV in Pine Bluff , Arkansas . Brad Suggs , who made records with Meteor Records and later with Phillips International himself, was also a member of the band . In early 1955 he signed a record deal with Sun Records in Memphis. His recordings there were a mix of country and rockabilly, which can be heard very well on Do What I Do. In late 1956, his contract with Sun Records ran out. Between 1955 and 1957, Rhodes frequently took part in Sun tours of the southern states , with which he traveled for months through the country.

Rhodes TV show was canceled in the mid-1960s, as were his radio shows.
