Sloe Gin is a slow blues rock song composed by Bob Ezrin and Michael Kamen by the English singer and actor Tim Curry from 1978. The lyrics of the song describe a rather depressing lonely evening ( I'm so fuckin 'lonely and I feel like I'm gonna die ... ) after a few glasses of sloe liqueur ( English Sloe Gin ).

Tim Curry version

After a cautious instrumental beginning, the song only develops through the almost whispering vocal part; the middle section is determined by a guitar solo by Dick Wagner († 2014). A good minute before the end of the piece, the music breaks off for about five seconds and slowly starts again - towards the end, only a moving vehicle siren can be heard.

Joe Bonamassa version

In his 8:15 min. Long recording from 2007, Joe Bonamassa largely takes over the song structure and the character of the Tim Curry version. In the text, however, he replaces the word fuckin ' with the less vulgar damn . His guitar solos are a little more technically mature and clearer, but overall his version is a little less intense.

More cover versions

The version of the Chilean guitarist Miguel Montalban , which has not yet been released on record or CD, is based to a large extent on that of Joe Bonamassa.
