from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Prince Pribina Order was founded in 1940 by President Jozef Tiso as the highest order of the 1st Slovak Republic and named after the medieval Slovak Prince Pribina . It served as a reward for civil and military services and was given to both domestic and foreign nationals.

With the occupation of the country by the Red Army and the resulting end of the republic, the medal was no longer awarded from May 1945.

Order classes

The order had five classes:

As a special award, the Grand Cross was also awarded with a collar . The medal with swords on the ring could be awarded for military service.

Order decoration

The sign of the order is a four-pointed star with four rays in each bundle. Between the rays there are stylized blue enameled replicas of the "Three Hills" from the national coat of arms , from which patriarchal crosses emerge. The round medallion of the medal shows an image of the crowned Prince Pribina looking to the right in a round golden frame. In the reverse a chapel , which is surrounded by a ring with the inscription SALCULO NONO INSTANTE FUNDAVIT .

The breast star of the 1st and 2nd class is rounded with eight small points. The medallion shows the sign of the order.

The collar consists of two types of links: the emblem of the fascist Hlinka party ( HSĽS, Hlinkova slovenská ľudová strana ) and an image of the three hills with the patriarchal cross rising from them, connected by simple gold chains.
