The Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts

The Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts ( Slovenian : Slovenska akademija znanosti in umetnosti ) for short SAZU - is the most renowned cultural and research institution in Slovenia , based in Ljubljana .

The academy was founded in 1938 and is limited by statute to a membership of 60 full members and 30 associate members who are elected to the academy. The current president of the academy is [Tadej Bajd].

The facade of the academy building was designed between 1786 and 1790 by Joseph Schemerl von Leythenbach from Laibach .
