The Småknoltane (Norwegian for Small Hills ) are a 6 km long mountain range in Queen Maud Land, East Antarctica . In the Filchner Mountains of the Orvinfjella, they rise up on the eastern flank of the mouth of the Snuggerudbreen .
The first aerial photographs were taken during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . Norwegian cartographers mapped the formation based on aerial photographs and measurements of the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960) and gave it a descriptive name.
