SME Union

The Small and Medium Entrepreneurs Union (SME UNION) was the European SME and business association of the European People's Party . According to its own information, the organization is now in the liquidation phase and is therefore officially dissolved.

The organization was founded in 1996 as a “network of business-friendly, Christian Democratic, conservative and center-right politicians and political organizations”. Her goals were to reform the legal framework for small and medium-sized enterprises across Europe and to support and represent their interests. It was dissolved in August 2012.

The most famous president was Jacques Santer (2003 to 2005). The last president of the SME Union from 2011 was the Bulgarian MEP Nadezhda Nejnski , the vice-president was Marian Petre Miluț from Romania.

From the German-speaking countries, the Austrian Business Association , the SME Union of the CSU and the SME and Business Association of the CDU / CSU were members of the SME Union.
