SME Europe

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The SME Europe ( Small and Medium Entrepreneurs Europe ) is the small businesses association of the European People's Party , based in Brussels . It was founded in May 2012 by the three MEPs Paul Rübig , Nadeschda Nejnski and Bendt Bendtsen . In the meantime, numerous member parties and their related national business associations have joined the association, from almost all EU member states.

Politically, the party advocates a reform of the legal framework in the interests of the numerous small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Europe. The organization also demands that the available EU funds are optimally invested in strengthening small and medium-sized businesses. Events with cooperation partners at European level are intended to draw attention to the special needs of SMEs.

On the part of the Commission , the organization was supported by former Regional Commissioner Johannes Hahn and former EU Industry Commissioner Antonio Tajani in the form of honorary members (previously Honorary President). The former Commission President Jacques Santer , the former President of Eurochambres, Christoph Leitl , and the former Vice-President of the European Parliament, Ingo Friedrich , are honorary presidents.
